Gurpreet Saini
'
Gurpreet Saini is a poet, lyricist and an actor, hailing from Chandigarh. He spent his college days on the stage performing as an actor for the prestigious DAV dramatics club - Aaghaaz. He also has been a core team member of the Chandigarh based theatre company Manchtantra . It is here, that he met Rochak Kohli, Ayushmann Khurana and Gautam Govind Sharma and from making music for street plays and stage plays he is now in Mumbai, writing lyrics for the Hindi film industry and has given us songs like; Saadi gali aja (film - Nautanki Saala), Mitti di khushboo (Ayushmaan Khuranas single ) and Maa (Mika Singhs single). In 2012 he had an epiphanous break with poetry. His poetry is heavily inspired by Punjabi poets like Shiv Kumar Batalvi , Paash and Bulleh Shah. His lyrics take birth from his native Punjabi culture.
